Journey to the Cross Bible Reading Plan - Day 30

Join us for a summary walk through the life of Jesus. Journey toward Resurrection Day with a renewed vision and appreciation for the life of Jesus Christ. Each day you will find a link to the Bible passage for that day and helpful resources for your study.

March 19. Read Mark 13. Olivet Discourse.

Jesus' teaching recorded in Mark 13 is called "The Olivet Discourse" because He and the disciples are on the Mount of Olives, east of the temple. In the discourse, Jesus prophesies about the fate of the temple, Jerusalem, and the end times. Those details include a prophecy about the impending destruction of the temple. Jerusalem and the temple, which were designed to be the center of God-worship and have become the nationalistic symbol of the Jews, are no longer needed. Judaism will cease being the primary avenue through which God reaches the world. The disciples will spread the gospel to the world.

Reflect: How does Jesus fulfill the Old Testament? What warnings does Jesus give in this passage?
